This blog has been documenting the creation of a unique piece of wall art for an upcoming Sydney textile show. Freeform crochet or knit contributions were sought worldwide, for a collaborative artwork to be exhibited at Fibrefest, June 17-21, 2015, in conjunction with the Craft & Quilt Fair at Glebe Island, Sydney, Australia. All the 'scrumbles' have now arrived, but you will be able to continue to watch the progress here. Enjoy!

one more scrumble...and a few stats. about the finished piece
The completed piece is in Sydney, ready to be hung for the show later this week...but first, here is a photo of one final scrumble that arrived in the mail...just a little after all of the others, but still in time for me to add it to the mix.
This last piece was made by Kasja McNaught from Rochedale, Qld, Australia, and I managed to fit it in well with everything else, even though most of the pieces were already joined together when it got here. A very pretty final addition, so thanks Kasja...and once again, very many thanks to everyone else who took the time to contribute. In the end, we had just over 200 contributors from more than 20 different countries.
Whist I can't say for sure that the finished artwork is the biggest collective piece of freeform crochet and knitting ever made, it certainly has to be up there with the best!
Now that everything is joined together, the finished piece measures approximately 10m x 1.5m (that's about 33ft x 5ft, and it weighs about 17kg (over 37lbs)...that's a heck of a lot of yarn!!
Some photos of the finished piece will be in the next blog post...in just a few minutes :-)
